Madhya Pradesh: Illegal houses of two rape accused demolished in two cities

Barwani/Burhanpur. Local authorities on Thursday demolished the house built on encroached land of the accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in Sendhwa town of Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh. An official gave this information. Another official said that similar action was taken in Burhanpur, about 170 km from Sendhwa, in which officials demolished the illegally constructed part of the house of the accused of raping and murdering a six-year-old girl.

A 35-year-old auto rickshaw driver accused in the Sendhwa case allegedly raped the victim on Tuesday night, after which he was arrested. Sendhwa Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Madhu Chaudhary told reporters, “The kutcha house of the accused built on encroached land was demolished this evening.” After the rape incident, people started protesting and demanded strict action against the accused.

Some organizations also protested at a local police station on Wednesday and demanded that the house of the accused be demolished to punish him and the officials assured the protesters of strict action against him. He said that after the demands, a team of the local municipality measured the house of the accused for further action.

In the Burhanpur case, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Antarsingh Kanesh told PTI that the illegal portion of the house of the rape accused was demolished with a bulldozer by the administration, local municipal body and police in a joint operation.
Eyewitnesses said that the locals were happy with the bulldozer action against the accused. The accused was arrested on May 18 for allegedly raping and strangulating a six-year-old girl and dumping her body in a dilapidated house.
