Medical student committed suicide in AIIMS Raipur

Raipur. A student of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) located in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room. Police gave this information on Wednesday. AIIMS student Ranjit Bhoyar (25) allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room on the AIIMS campus, police officials said.

He said, “On Tuesday, Bhoyar’s friends saw him unconscious and immediately informed the hostel warden. By the time the doctors examined him, he had died.” Officials said that the student was a resident of Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha.

He said that after receiving information about the incident, the police of Amanaka police station area reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Later the body was handed over to the family members. Police officials said that preliminary investigation shows that Bhoyar had been suffering from depression since he had not cleared the PG intern examination last year, for which he was undergoing treatment.

He told that prima facie it seems that he had consumed medicines in excess quantity. Information about the exact cause of death will be available only after receiving the post mortem report. Police officials said that the police have not recovered any letter from the spot. He said that the police have registered the case and the matter is being investigated.
