Mother of girl rescued from Chennai residential building commits suicide

Coimbatore: The 33-year-old mother of the girl who was recently dramatically rescued from the balcony ‘shed’ of an apartment in Chennai has reportedly committed suicide as she was “deeply troubled” over the criticism she faced following the incident.

Police said the woman took the extreme step at her parents’ house in Karamdai. Police have registered a case in this regard. “She was living with her husband in Thirumullaivoyal, Chennai,” a senior police officer said on Tuesday. Her daughter had accidentally slipped out of her hands and fallen on the ‘shade’ of the balcony of the apartment and she was very upset after this incident.

The woman was found lying unconscious at her parents’ house on May 18. His parents immediately took him to the hospital, but he was declared dead at the hospital. Recently, a video of the dramatic rescue of the eight-month-old girl by the residents of the apartment went viral on social media.

A group of people were standing under the balcony holding a cloth in the hope of catching the girl safely if she fell. Two people came out of the window of a room under the balcony, caught the girl and saved her. After this incident, the woman was criticized a lot on social media for her alleged carelessness.
Police said that after this incident of April 28, the woman had come here to her parents’ house.
