NDA meeting will be held today before government formation…

The Uncut

New Delhi: Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are likely to hold a meeting on Wednesday to review the Lok Sabha election results and discuss government formation.

Sources said that Janata Dal (United) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu will also attend this meeting. Apart from these two leaders, top leaders of BJP and its other allies are also likely to attend this meeting.

It is expected that these leaders will congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving his third consecutive victory and will discuss with him the formation of the new government. This time the form of the new government is likely to look different because BJP has not got majority on its own and it will have to depend on its allies.

The NDA has crossed the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member Lok Sabha, while the BJP has fallen short of the magic figure of majority for the first time since 2014. TDP, JDU, Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) have won 16, 12, seven and five seats respectively and will play a key role in government formation.
