Nine Naxalites arrested from different places in Bijapur

Bijapur. Nine Naxalites have been arrested from different places in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. Police gave this information on Sunday. The officer said that eight of them were arrested from different places in Usur police station area, while one was captured from Naimed police station area.

A statement issued by the police said, “All the arrested cadres were active members of the banned Maoist movement and were allegedly involved in incidents of planting IEDs, damaging roads and putting up posters and banners to target security personnel.” The statement said that a joint team of the 196th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the 205th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (Cobra – a special unit of the CRPF) as well as the local police were involved in the operation in Usur.

It said, “Those arrested from Usoor include Sona Kunjam (40), Anda Kadti (30), Mangu Madkam (24), Santosh Kadti (25), Sona Muchaki (22), Hadma Kadti (27), Suresh Madkam (28) and Devendra Muchaki (25). These eight people were allegedly involved in damaging the Usoor-Avapalli road at several places last month and putting up Maoist banners and pamphlets in support of the shutdown.” The statement said that Avalam Ayatu (49) was arrested by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Naimed area and he was wanted in the case of attack on policemen in the area.
