Raipur: The sluggishly running monsoon has again picked up pace. In one day on Saturday, it reached six states – Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh. Monsoon became active in entire Chhattisgarh on Saturday. At the same time, it has started raining at most places from Bastar to Bilaspur and Surguja divisions.
Monsoon wind has spread in entire Chhattisgarh in two days. On the other hand, due to the delayed arrival of monsoon in Chhattisgarh this year, the quota rainfall has reduced by about 71 per cent in June. By June 24, the state should receive 126.9 mm of rain. So far only 37.2 mm of rain has fallen. This has affected agriculture. With the onset of monsoon rains from 10 to 15 June, the sowing work starts in the fields. This year there has been a delay of 15 days.
The southwest wind has reached Bilaspur and Surguja divisions of North Chhattisgarh via Raipur from Bastar. Many parts of the state received good rainfall. Due to clouds and rain, the scorching heat that has been going on for the last three weeks has subsided and relief is being felt. The day temperature has reached normal. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of Raipur division on Sunday.
Actually, during the next 24 hours, there will be light to moderate rain at most places of the state. During the last 24 hours, Gariaband received maximum rainfall of 100 mm. 90 in Manendragarh, 70 in Mainpur and 50 to 10 mm in Sonhat, Rajpur, Devbhog, Tokapal, Surajpur, Odgi, Manora, Bagicha, Kondagaon, Pratappur, Bhaiyathan, Katekalyan, Nagri, Berla, Bade Rajpur, Kunkuri, Darbha etc. It rained Ambikapur received about 18 mm of rain during the day on Saturday.
