The Uncut

Itanagar: Pema Khandu took oath as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. Pema Khandu has been the Chief Minister of Arunachal since 2016. He took charge for the first time after the resignation of Nabam Tuki. When Khandu first became the Chief Minister of the state, he was with the Congress.

He joined the BJP for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In Arunachal Pradesh, the Khandu-led BJP won a landslide victory in the assembly elections by winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly. In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has won both the seats.

Current Chief Minister Pema Khandu has achieved a unique feat in the politics of Arunachal Pradesh. He has led the state government under the banner of three different political parties, and that too within just six months. Khandu began his tenure as Chief Minister on July 17, 2016 as a Congress candidate.

However, his thinking changed when he joined the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) and he was sworn in as the Chief Minister once again on September 16, 2016. He later formed an alliance with the BJP and was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the third time on December 31, 2016.
