People should vote for the constitution and democracy: Kharge

The Uncut

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday, on the occasion of voting in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, appealed to the people to use their franchise to save the Constitution and democracy.

He said that this festival of democracy will be considered successful only when democratic forces defeat dictatorial forces. Voting is going on in 57 seats in the last phase of Lok Sabha elections. Voting has been completed in a total of 486 seats in the six phases before this. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Kharge wrote on ‘X’, “Dear countrymen, today is the last phase of voting to save the constitution and democracy. The ‘India’ alliance is fighting the dictatorial forces with courage.” He said, “The battle is now in its final phase.

The public stood firmly with us in every phase. After six phases, people want to see us win. They want to see the Congress party’s guarantees fulfilled.” Kharge said that the country has supported the five ‘justices’ of the Congress. He said that this festival of democracy will be considered successful only when democratic forces defeat dictatorial forces.

He said, “Today when you press the EVM button for 57 seats in eight states and union territories, think of the Preamble of the Constitution – We the People of India”, think about the future of our farmers, youth, workers, women, Dalits, tribals and backward classes.”

Kharge said, “Will you push them into the quagmire of injustice, oppression and inequality for another five years or will you create a brighter, better and equitable future for them?” Kharge told the public, “You have to decide. Remember, if there is a Constitution, our basic fundamental rights will remain.”

He told the youth that those who are going to vote for the first time have a big responsibility on their shoulders. I welcome them. The Congress President said, “I request everyone to vote in maximum numbers. By voting for change, it will be a good beginning because the situation will change.”
