PM Modi is misleading people in the name of religion for power: Priyanka Gandhi

The Uncut

Una. Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi “anti-people” and said that he is misleading people in the name of religion to remain in power. She said, “Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had donated her jewellery for the country in times of need and Modi says that Congress people will steal your mangalsutra.” The Congress General Secretary said that such language does not befit the Prime Minister of the country.

Addressing an election rally at Gagret in Himachal’s Una district, she said Modi has started considering himself as God and thinks he will get votes in the name of religion, but people will not be mislead. Campaigning for Congress candidate Satpal Raizada from Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat and party candidate Rakesh Kalia in the Gagret assembly by-poll, Priyanka said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is “anti-people in general and anti-youth in particular”. She also said the Modi government has reduced import duty on American apples.

Stepping up her attack on the Modi government, the Congress leader said that the BJP-led central government has no money for the disaster-affected people of Himachal Pradesh, but it waived off the loans of rich industrialists worth Rs 16 lakh crore. Priyanka said that during the monsoon disaster in the state last year, people got to see the difference between the Congress and the BJP when every leader and worker of the Congress was on the ground, while the BJP was nowhere to be seen.

She told the people, “We work for you, not for power or money and feel it is our duty.” Referring to the controversy over six Congress rebels who joined the BJP, Priyanka said the BJP-led central government neither declared the monsoon disaster as a national disaster nor gave any special package for the state but instead tried to topple the democratically elected Congress government in the state by using the money.
