Raipur. Although we see a tough image of the police around us, they also have humanity, their hearts melt. A policeman carried a woman from a remote area in a palanquin for about 3 kilometers across a mountain stream to ensure her safe delivery, but due to increased labor pains in the middle, the delivery had to be done with the help of a midwife. Later the woman was admitted to the hospital. The example of humanitarian assistance presented by the policeman to provide immediate help to a woman suffering from labor pain is inspiring for everyone.
Actually the story is something like this, Paremer Ghutrupara is a small village situated amidst the mountains in Raigad district. It becomes difficult to reach here during rainy season due to rain drains. A woman in this village had labor pain. This woman was groaning in pain. The family members called Dial 112 for help to take the pregnant woman Sushmita to the hospital. The call of medical emergency was received at Kapu Rhino police station. The caller informed that the woman was having labor pain. Constable Vipin Kishore Khalkho and ERV driver Chhotu Das posted on Dial 112 duty left immediately.
Despite the pregnant woman’s house being located across a drain and a hill and there being no road for vehicle movement, the constable and the driver reached the woman’s house on foot. Seeing the condition of the pregnant woman, the constable showed sensitivity without delay and convinced the family members to carry the labor-stricken woman to the vehicle in a Kaanwar and himself, along with a young man, carried the woman in the Kaanwar to the Dial 112 vehicle.
The soldier took the pregnant woman in a palanquin and crossed a mountain stream for about 3 kms and reached the Dial 112 vehicle and was taking her to the hospital. On the way, the pregnant woman experienced severe labour pains and the soldier showed his understanding and stopped the vehicle under a tree, where the Mitanin and the woman’s family helped the pregnant woman to deliver the baby safely. The woman was immediately admitted to the nearest government hospital Jamarga in the Dial 112 vehicle. Both the mother and child are healthy there.
