Pune car accident case: Juvenile’s custody extended till June 25

The Uncut

Pune. The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on Wednesday extended the observation home custody of a 17-year-old juvenile allegedly involved in the case related to the death of two IT engineers in a car accident in Pune last month till June 25. The Pune Police, through prosecutors, requested to keep the juvenile in observation home for 14 days, citing his safety. He was in observation home till June 12.

He also told the board that the release of the juvenile at this time could hamper the investigation into the case and other related matters. Other matters include the alleged replacement of his blood samples taken after the accident on May 19.

The defence opposed the Pune police’s plea to extend the detention period and told the board that the minor should be released from the observation centre. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the Juvenile Justice Board extended the juvenile’s stay in the observation home till June 25.
