Ahmedabad: Gujarat police has arrested one more partner of Rajkot-based TRP Game Zone while another accused died in the incident, officials said on Wednesday. 27 people died in a fire at the game zone last week.

According to the police, the number of people arrested in connection with this case has now increased to five. Rajkot Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Partharaj Singh Gohil told PTI that Kirit Singh Jadeja, a partner of Raceway Enterprises, which runs the game zone, was arrested from Rajkot-Kalavad Road on Tuesday night.

Jadeja is one of the six partners of TRP Game Zone named as accused in the fire incident and has been charged under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Gohil said, “We arrested accused Kirit Singh Jadeja near Rajkot last night, taking the number of people arrested in the case so far to five.” He said, “One of the six people named in the FIR, Prakash Hiran, died in the fire incident. During the investigation, the DNA sample of one of the deceased matched with Hiran’s family members, confirming his death.”

According to officials, the police have earlier arrested game zone partners Yuvraj Singh Solanki, Rahul Rathod, Dhawal Thakkar and its manager Nitin Jain. According to the FIR, the accused have been booked under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 337 (causing hurt by act which endangers life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by doing an act endangering life or personal safety of any person) and 114 (person present when offence is committed) of the Indian Penal Code.

27 people died in the fire that broke out in the game zone on May 25. Most of the bodies were burnt so badly that it is difficult to identify them. Officials said that so far 25 bodies have been identified and handed over to their families.
