Sifat Kaur won bronze medal in Munich World Cup

Munich. Indian shooter Sifat Kaur Samara won the bronze medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 position event on the last day of the ISSF World Cup (rifle/pistol) here on Friday. India thus ended its campaign in this competition by winning two medals. Sarabjot Singh had won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol on Thursday. Sifat missed the silver medal by a narrow margin. She scored 452.9 points which was only 0.1 less than the current world champion Han Jiayu of China. World number one player Seonaid McIntosh of Great Britain won the gold medal with 466.7 points.

Sifat was in seventh place after the kneeling position and fifth after the prone position. She performed well in the standing position and was able to win the bronze medal. In the men’s 50m rifle 3 position, India’s Aishwarya Tomar could not recover from a slow start and finished eighth with 408.9 points after 40 shots. The gold medal of this event was won by Norway’s Ole Martin Halvorsen (464.3). He defeated Hungary’s Istvan Peni by 0.2 in the final. Norway’s John Herman Hegg won the bronze medal with 449.9 points.
