Sindhu lost in the first round of Indonesia Open

Jakarta. India’s top badminton player PV Sindhu was knocked out of the Indonesia Open on Wednesday after losing to Chinese Taipei’s Su Wen-Chi in the first round. However, the pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa reached the next round of the women’s doubles by defeating Canada’s Jackie Dent and Crystal Lei 21-15, 21-15. Two-time Olympic medalist and former world champion Sindhu lost 15-21, 21-15, 14-21 in the women’s singles event of the BWF Super 1000 tournament. This is her first defeat against Wen-Chi.

The Taiwanese player took one hour and 10 minutes to beat the Commonwealth Games gold medalist. In the women’s doubles round of last 32, the Indian pair of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda lost to sixth seeded Korean pair of Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong 12-21, 9-21. Arkish Kashyap lost to Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon 18-21, 6-21 in the first round of women’s singles.
