Sukma: Eight Naxalites surrendered before security forces

The Uncut

Sukma. Eight Naxalites, four of whom had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their heads, surrendered before security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday, police said. An official said the Naxalites surrendered before senior police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials.

He said that the Naxalites expressed disappointment over the atrocities committed by the Maoists on the tribals and the inhuman and hollow Maoist ideology. The officer said that they were also impressed by the state government’s Naxal eradication policy and the rehabilitation campaign of Sukma Police ‘Puna Narkom’ (New Dawn, New Beginning).

He said that among the eight Naxalites who surrendered, three women were also included who were allegedly assigned the task of blocking roads, putting up Maoist pamphlets and posters, gathering information about security personnel and extorting money for the Maoists. Among those who surrendered, a female Naxalite Vetti Mase (42) had a reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head. He said that three other Naxalites Sagar alias Deva Madkam (31), Podiam Nande (30) and Sodhi Tulsi (32) had a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads.
