T20 Cup: Malik accuses Imad Wasim of deliberately wasting balls

The Uncut

Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Salim Malik has accused Imad Wasim of deliberately wasting balls in the T20 World Cup match against India. Pakistan’s team could only score 113 runs for seven wickets while chasing the target of 120 runs in the match played in New York on Sunday. Meanwhile, he did not score any run on 59 balls. India won this match by six wickets.

Wasim scored 15 runs off 23 balls. Malik said, “If you look at his (Wasim) innings, it seems that instead of scoring runs, he is wasting balls and making things difficult while chasing the target.”

Another former captain Shahid Afridi feels that everything is not going well in the Pakistan team and some players have complaints against captain Babar Azam. Afridi said, “A captain takes everyone along. He either ruins the team or makes it good. Let the World Cup end, then I will talk openly.”

He said, “My relationship with Shaheen (Afridi) is such that if I talk about her, people will say that I am favouring my son-in-law.” Afridi’s daughter is married to left-arm fast bowler Shaheen who was removed from the captaincy just before the World Cup. During his captaincy, Pakistan played only one series against New Zealand.
