Thane factory blast: Husband identifies wife’s charred body by looking at gold ring

Amit Khanvilkar, who was frantically looking for his wife who works at Amudan Chemicals in Dombivli, received a call from Shastri Nagar Hospital on Thursday and was asked to reach the hospital. When Amit reached the hospital, he was shocked to see the bodies of two women there. Both the bodies were so badly burnt that they were difficult to identify. Somehow he composed himself and looked at the bodies from head to toe.

Amit told reporters at the hospital that he lost his senses after seeing the ring on the finger of one of the two bodies. After seeing the ring on the finger, Amit was convinced that it was the body of his wife Riddhi Amit Khanvilkar. Riddhi has a 12-year-old son. Riddhi worked at ‘Amudan Chemicals’ located in Phase 2 of Dombivali MIDC. Nine people died and more than 60 people were injured in the explosion in the factory on Thursday. Riddhi had started working in the company’s accounts department just three months ago. Amit (42), who works in a lab in Palghar, said that when he got information about the explosion, he was at his home in Manpada area of ​​Dombivali.

Amit said he called Riddhi but her phone was not reachable. “I informed my friends and circulated her pictures on social media,” he said. Amit said he received a call from Shastri Nagar Government Hospital where he was shown two charred bodies. He identified Riddhi’s body after seeing a gold ring on her finger. Amit said the blast had devastated his world. The family of Riddhi’s colleague Rohini Kadam (23) also identified her body at the hospital. Rohini lived with her relatives in Ajde village in Manpada. Grief-stricken family members said Rohini and Riddhi lost their lives for no fault of theirs.
