There is no need to belittle each other on the basis of numbers, we will reach out to everyone: Rijiju

The Uncut

New Delhi. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday said there is no need for the government or the opposition to belittle each other on the basis of numbers. He asserted that he will reach out to every party for the smooth functioning of Parliament.
After taking charge as the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Rijiju said that the government has not yet decided on the dates of the first session of Parliament after the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha. However, officials said that the session could be held in the last week of June.

Rijiju said, “The dates of the session are under discussion. I cannot share them right now.” Rijiju took charge as the Parliamentary Affairs Minister in the presence of his predecessor Pradip Joshi and Ministers of State Arjun Ram Meghwal and L Murugan. He said, “We do not need to belittle each other on the basis of numbers. People use muscle power outside Parliament, but inside the House we should have a good debate and express our views boldly.” Rijiju said that the people of the country are supreme and their decisions are reflected in the results of the Lok Sabha elections. This should be respected.

The four-time Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh said, “Those who have been entrusted with the responsibility of running the government should run the government, those who have been entrusted with the work of opposition should discharge their duties.” Rijiju appealed to all political parties to contribute in maintaining the dignity of Parliament. He said, “I have come here with a positive attitude. We will make every effort to take everyone along and run the Parliament.”
