Tribal community came forward against Pedia encounter: Called it fake, will meet Collector on May 24 and demand judicial inquiry

In this encounter, police had claimed to have killed 12 Naxalites. But now the tribal society has termed this encounter as fake and has accused the unarmed tribals of being surrounded and killed. Regarding this encounter, the Sarva Adivasi Samaj had sent a 58-member investigation team to the incident site. The investigation team of the Adivasi Samaj has returned after visiting Pidia village. Officials of all tribal societies and members of the investigation team held a meeting at Koya Kuthma Samaj Bhawan of Parpa.

Bastar bandh announced

In the meeting, Sarva Adivasi Samaj Pramukh Prakash Thakur said that on 24 May, the members of the society will meet the collector in all the districts of the division and demand a judicial inquiry. The Sarva Adivasi Samaj has also announced a Bastar bandh on 28 May. If the demand for a judicial inquiry is not met, the society is also talking about staging a sit-in protest in all the districts of the division from 7 June. The Sarva Adivasi Samaj has also made a serious allegation of increasing cases of fake encounters in Bastar since the formation of the BJP government in the state.
