The Uncut

Singapore. The emerging Indian women’s pair of Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand continued their upsets at the Singapore Open badminton, defeating sixth seeded South Korean pair of Kim So Yong and Kong Hee Yong in the quarterfinals here on Friday. The unseeded Indian pair made a brilliant comeback after losing the first game and won the thrilling marathon match that lasted one hour and 19 minutes by 18-21 21-19 24-22.

Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Trisa and Gayatri had earlier defeated world number two South Korean team Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee in the round of 16. Trisa and Gayatri are the only pair left for India in the race for the title of this ‘BWF Super 750’ level event. The Indian pair will face the challenge of fourth seeded Japanese pair of Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida in the semi-finals to be played on Saturday.
