Srinagar. Two terrorists, including a self-styled Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, police said. Kashmir region Inspector General of Police VK Birdhi said two terrorists, identified as Riyaz Dar and Raees Dar, were killed in an encounter during a cordon and search operation in the Nihama area of the south Kashmir district.
Riyaz Dar was a “commander” of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba and was wanted in several terror cases. He was dodging security forces for many years. A police officer said that the security forces had launched the operation after getting concrete information about the presence of terrorists there. The officer said that the terrorists opened fire on the members of the search team and two terrorists were killed in the encounter.
