The election bugle for Maharashtra-Jharkhand assembly elections has been sounded. Election Commission’s Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is announcing the dates of assembly elections of both the states in a press conference. Voting for all 288 seats in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20. Whereas in Jharkhand, voting will be held in two phases on 13th and 20th November. The results of both the states will be released simultaneously on 23 November.

Let us tell you that the tenure of the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly is ending on 26th November. The tenure of the 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly will end on January 5, 2025. Recently, the Commission team led by the Chief Election Commissioner had visited Jharkhand.

There was no violence during elections in Jammu and Kashmir – Rajeev Kumar

Earlier, while starting the press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that he would like to thank all the voters of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. The passion shown in both the elections will be remembered for a long time. We express our intentions at the time of election announcement itself. We made our point clearly at the time of announcement of Lok Sabha elections. There was zero violence during elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

Total voters in Maharashtra 9.63 crore

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, “The total number of voters in Maharashtra is 9.63 crore, of which 4.97 crore are male and 4.66 crore are female voters. The number of first-time voters is 20.93 lakh. There are 1,00,186 polling stations in Maharashtra, this time also we will create booths run by PWD and women.

Total 2.6 crore voters in Jharkhand

Rajiv Kumar told that there are 24 districts and 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand. The term is ending on 5 January 2025. There are 2.6 crore voters. First time voters are 11.84 lakh. There are 1 lakh 186 polling stations. This time also we will make PWD and women managed booths. 1.14 lakh voters are of 85 plus age. There are 29 thousand 562 polling stations.

By-elections on 3 Lok Sabha seats including Wayanad

Along with the elections in both the states, by-elections can also be held on 3 Lok Sabha and 49 assembly seats in 13 states. Wayanad seat in Kerala has become vacant due to the resignation of Rahul Gandhi, Nanded seat in Maharashtra has become vacant due to the death of a Congress MP and Basirhat seat in West Bengal has become vacant due to the death of a Trinamool MP.

By-elections on 49 assembly seats in 13 states

Apart from this, by-elections can also be announced for 49 assembly seats in 13 states. These include 10 from Uttar Pradesh, 7 from Rajasthan, 6 from West Bengal, 5 from Assam, 4 from Bihar, 4 from Punjab, 3 from Karnataka, 3 from Kerala, 2 from Madhya Pradesh, 2 from Sikkim, 1 from Gujarat, 1 from Uttarakhand. 1 and 1 assembly seats of Chhattisgarh are included.

By-elections will also be held on 4 assembly seats of Bihar

Along with Maharashtra-Jharkhand assembly elections, elections will be held only on four assembly seats of Bihar. Tarari, Ramgarh, Belaganj and Imamganj assembly seats are vacant in Bihar. MLAs from these four seats have reached the Lok Sabha in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. After the victory of Sudhakar Singh of RJD in Ramgarh, Sudama Prasad of CPI Male in Tarari, Surendra Yadav of RJD in Belaganj and Jitan Ram Manjhi of HAM in Imamganj, these four The seats are vacant.

Mahayuti government in alliance with BJP in Maharashtra

Maharashtra’s ruling coalition Mahayuti includes BJP, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party. This alliance will take on the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes the Congress, Sharad Pawar-led NCP (NCP-SP) and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT).

India Alliance government led by JMM in Jharkhand

The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Jharkhand is part of the India alliance. India Alliance will contest elections against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Apart from BJP, NDA includes All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) and Janata Dal (United).
