‘Dharamveer 2’ is politically motivated, it is insulting to Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe: Raut

The Uncut

Mumbai. Shiv Sena-Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday said the second part of the film ‘Dharamveer’ based on the life of Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe is politically motivated and the makers are insulting the memory of the late leader.
Dighe is considered the political guru of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The first part of the film was released just days before Shinde led a revolt in the Shiv Sena against Uddhav Thackeray in 2022 and became the Chief Minister by toppling the Thackeray-led coalition government. The trailer of ‘Dharamveer 2’ was released on Saturday.

Raut told reporters that treacherous people are misusing Dighe’s name to further their political purpose and justify their betrayal. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said, “Lies are being spread through the dialogues of Dighe’s character in the film while he was loyal to the party founder late Balasaheb Thackeray.” He said that if the first part of the film ended with Dighe’s death, then how can its second part be made? He said that the film is being released keeping in mind the upcoming state assembly elections.

Raut claimed that the film was politically motivated and was an insult to Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe, who had a “great guru-shishya” relationship. When asked about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convention in Pune, the Shiv Sena leader said that no matter who makes Maharashtra their base for the elections, the next government will be run by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance.
