ADGP controversy: CPI demands removal of officers who have different stand from left policies

The Uncut

Thiruvananthapuram: The controversy over senior Kerala police officer M.R. Ajithkumar’s meeting with two Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders in 2023 is not taking the name of dying down. The Communist Party of India (CPI), a key ally in the state’s Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left government, on Thursday expressed displeasure over the officer’s continuation as ADGP (Law and Order).

In an article in CPI mouthpiece ‘Janayugam’, party leader K. Prakash Babu said that whether this meeting was official or private, it is the responsibility of the ADGP to clarify the situation. He said that at least the information about this matter should be officially given to the police chief or the Home Department. The CPI leader said that since the ADGP is not willing to do so, he should be removed from his post.

Prakash Babu remarked, “If the officer does not understand the pro-people stance of the people’s government, it can put the government in trouble. This is the situation that the ADGP has created.” He said that there is no doubt among the national leftist political parties that fascism in India manifests itself in the form of majoritarian communalism.

The CPI leader said, “No one in the administrative system should deviate from the policies of such Left Democratic Front or the government led by it. If any state cadre officer violates those policies or works against them, he should be removed from the posts which reflect the vision and principles of the government.”
