Agartala. The BJP retained both the Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura on Tuesday and its candidates defeated the ‘India’ alliance candidates by a huge margin. Former Chief Minister and BJP candidate Biplab Kumar Deb won the Tripura West Lok Sabha seat by defeating his nearest rival and Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashish Kumar Saha by 6,11,578 votes. In the year 2019, BJP’s Pratima Bhowmik won the Tripura West seat by a margin of 5,73,532 votes.
At the same time, BJP candidate Kriti Devi Debbarman, sister of Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma, won the Tripura East Lok Sabha seat. Kriti defeated her nearest rival CPI(M) candidate Rajendra Riyang by 4,86,819 votes. Kriti got 7,77,447 votes while Riyang got 2,90,628 votes. In the last general election, BJP candidate Rebati won this seat by more than 4.5 lakh votes.
