Did not give any statement about Kashmir: Wangchuk

The Uncut

Ulyaktopo. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk said the short clip of his recent statement was “distorted” and taken “out of context” to show that he was talking about Kashmir and making anti-national statements. Wangchuk told PTI here, “It is not right to distort the statements. I have not said anything about Kashmir.” He said, “It is sad to see the statements being distorted and short clips being circulated.”

Wangchuk said, “A leader of Kargil had said that Ladakh should be reunited with Kashmir. I objected to this and said that if it is his personal opinion then it is fine, but if everyone at Cargil feels the same, then they can do it. But Ladakh will remain a Union Territory.” Wangchuk said, “We have no interest in re-merging with Kashmir. This was the context. A short clip of that (interview) was shown as if I was talking about Kashmir and making anti-national statements.”
