On Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar appeared before Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court in the case of Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. Bibhav Kumar underwent a medical check-up before the hearing. During the hearing, the court sent Bibhav Kumar to judicial custody for four days. Now he will have to remain in judicial custody till May 28. He was arrested by the police on May 18.
The court had earlier sent him to five-day police custody
On May 19, in the Swati Maliwal assault case, Tis Hazari court sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary Bibhav Kumar to five days of police custody. Bibhav Kumar’s lawyer Rishikesh Kumar had told that the police had filed an application seeking seven days’ remand, out of which five days’ remand was granted. He will be produced again on May 23. During this time, he was allowed to meet his lawyer. If any medicine is required on medical grounds, it will be provided to the accused and his family members.
The court did not grant interim bail to Bibhav Kumar
The court had on Saturday said that the anticipatory bail plea of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar, accused of assaulting Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, has become infructuous as he has been arrested. Kumar was arrested at 4:15 pm on Saturday, two days after an FIR was lodged against him at the Civil Lines police station.

She said that on the day of the incident, Arvind Kejriwal was in another room. I was beaten up and I kept screaming but he did not come out. Not only this, till date Arvind Kejriwal has not even called me. Swati said in an interview, on May 13, at around 9 am, I went to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. The staff asked me to sit in the drawing room and told me that Arvind is at home and he is coming to meet me. After this, Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Vibhav Kumar became aggressive.
