Raipur: Nand Kumar Sai was appointed as the chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation by the Chhattisgarh government. Sai has been given the status of cabinet minister by the state government. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel congratulated Sai and best wishes for his new responsibility.
Sai, a prominent tribal face of BJP and belonging to North Chhattisgarh, was first elected as MLA of BJP party in 1977 from Tapkara seat (now in Jashpur district) in Madhya Pradesh. In 1980, he was elected the chief of the Raigad district unit of the BJP. He was elected BJP MLA from Tapkara in 1985.
He was elected Lok Sabha member from Raigad in 1989, 1996 and 2004 and Rajya Sabha member in 2009 and 2010. Say was Chhattisgarh BJP President from 2003-05 and Madhya Pradesh BJP chief from 1997 to 2000. In November 2000, he became the first Leader of the Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly after the state of Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. In 2017, he became the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST). Please tell that at present Nand Kumar Sai has joined the Congress party.
