Singer Sonu Nigam honoured with honorary fellowship in UK

London. Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has been awarded an honorary fellowship by a leading Indian diaspora student organization for his worldwide influence in the field of music. Nigam is currently in Britain for a concert. Britain’s National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) awarded him the fellowship during Nigam’s performance at London’s Wembley Arena last weekend. Senior British Indian MP Virendra Sharma of the Labour Party and Rachel Dwyer, Emeritus Professor of Indian Culture at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), honored Nigam on stage.

Earlier, this honorary fellowship has been awarded to many other personalities including actress Shabana Azmi, writer Javed Akhtar and spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar. This fellowship is given to those individuals who have a significant impact on Indian culture, education and social reform on the global stage. After receiving the honor, Nigam said, “Thank you NISAU for your love and this honor. I consider it another precious gift from God.”
