Dubai. The International Cricket Council has included six Indians in the ‘Team of the Tournament’ of the recently concluded T20 World Cup, but star batsman Virat Kohli, who was Player of the Match in the final against South Africa, has not found a place in it. Kohli, who plays the role of an opening batsman, did not play in any match before the final. In the final, he scored 76 runs in 59 balls.
India defeated South Africa by seven runs and won the ICC title after 11 years.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Jaspreet Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh have got place in ICC XI. Rohit scored 257 runs at a strike rate of 156.7. He scored the most runs in the tournament after Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Player of the tournament and India’s trump card Jaspreet Bumrah took 15 wickets. His economy rate was 4.17 which is the best average of any bowler in a single season in the Men’s T20 World Cup.
Three players of Afghanistan which reached the semi-finals, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Gurbaz and captain Rashid Khan are also in the team.
Australia’s Marcus Stoinis and West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran have also found a place in the team. Not a single player from runner-up South Africa is in the playing eleven. Fast bowler Anrich Norkia is the 12th player.
