Pune luxury car accident: Case will be registered against father and bar of accused minor

Pune. A speeding luxury car driven by a minor hit a motorcycle in Maharashtra’s Pune city, killing two people. A police officer gave this information on Sunday. According to the police officer, a case will be registered against the father of the accused minor and the bar that served liquor to the minor in connection with this accident. According to the police, after registering a case against the 17-year-old accused who was driving the car, he was taken into custody, after which he was produced in the juvenile court, from where he got bail.

Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said in a statement, “In this accident case, action is being taken against the father of the accused and the bar that served liquor to the juvenile/accused under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.” According to Section-75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, a person having actual control or charge over a child can be punished if he intentionally assaults, abandons or neglects the child and ill-treats him, Which causes mental or physical illness. Section 77 deals with giving alcohol or intoxicants to a child.

Police said that the accident occurred at around 3.15 pm in Kalyani Nagar and a case has been registered against the 17-year-old car driver under relevant provisions. A group of friends were returning home on their motorcycle after a party at an eatery in Kalyani Nagar. According to the FIR, when they reached Kalyani Nagar junction, a speeding luxury car hit one of the motorcycles, causing two occupants of the motorcycle to fall and die on the spot.

It is said that after hitting both of them, the car collided with the railing of the roadside footpath. A video surfaced on social media in which a group of people were seen beating up the driver who was trying to pull him out of the crashed car.
According to the FIR, the deceased have been identified as Anees Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. A case has been registered against the car driver at Yerwada police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act.
