Bijapur/Bhubaneswar. In Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Bijapur district, security forces arrested a wanted Naxal on Wednesday and two others surrendered before security forces. Police officials gave this information. Police officials said that security forces arrested Paiku Telam (38), president of Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangh under Bhairamgarh Area Committee. They said that Telam had a reward of one lakh rupees on his head.
Police officials said that Telam was arrested near Petha village under Kutru police station area. They said that cases of murder, attempt to murder and other cases are registered against Naxalite Paiku. Officials said that in another incident, Naxalites Vichchem Farsi (35) and Sandeep Modiyam (19) of Gangalur Area Committee have surrendered before the security forces. They said that the Naxalites have decided to surrender after being influenced by the rehabilitation policy of the state government and fed up with the discriminatory behavior of Naxalite leaders. Officials said that the surrendered Naxalites have been given Rs 25,000 each and they will be rehabilitated under the government policy.
BSF recovers ammunition from Maoist hideout in Odisha
The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered explosive material including IED and many other things from a Maoist hideout in the forests of Odisha’s Malkangiri district. Officials said that on Tuesday, soldiers of the second battalion of BSF recovered this material from under a rock at the foot of Tulsi Dongri Reserved Forest.
He said that during the patrol, the jawans recovered an IED weighing about 1.5 kg, about 300 grams of explosive powder, a solar plate and wire, iron-cutter and some other items kept in a steel tiffin. Officials said that the jawans destroyed the IED and the potential threat to the security forces and local people was neutralized. The BSF has been deployed on the borders with Chhattisgarh for anti-Naxal operations in Odisha.
