Female Naxalite killed in encounter in Kanker district

Kanker. Security forces have killed a female Naxal in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Kanker district. Police officials gave this information. Kanker district’s Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela said that the encounter took place in the forest near Binagunda village in Chhote Bethia police station area, when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal operation.

He said that District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were involved in the operation.
Officials said that after the firing stopped, the body of a female Naxalite, a .303 rifle and a .315 bore rifle were recovered from the spot. They said that the identity of the killed female Naxalite has not been ascertained yet.

The officer said that with this incident, 139 Naxalites have been killed in different encounters with security forces in the state so far this year. Out of these, 137 Naxalites were killed in Bastar division, which includes seven districts including Kanker. Two other Naxalites were killed in Dhamtari district of Raipur division.
