Pay special attention to the quality of education: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said in the review meeting of the School Education Department that education is the key to progress. Quality education should be provided to children. Ensure that discipline is maintained in schools. The Block Education Officer should go to the field level and monitor the quality of teaching and learning in schools. The Collector should also visit two to three schools every month and inspect them.

The Chief Minister said that good governance and transparent administration is our goal. The state government will try to ensure that children get better school buildings and good education system is ensured there. Expressing strong displeasure over the slow pace of renovation work of schools, the Chief Minister said that laxity in the renovation work of dilapidated schools will not be tolerated. The Collector should himself monitor the strength of school buildings. The Chief Minister said that the renovation work should be inspected under the School Jatan Yojana started for the renovation of dilapidated schools and the work should be completed using the amount allocated in the School Jatan Yojana. During the review, the Chief Minister directed to present a proposal for rationalization of teachers and schools in the next cabinet meeting. He said that this will help in removing the shortage of teachers in schools. Chief Minister’s Secretary Rahul Bhagat and Dr. Basavaraju S., School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi were also present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi has called for planting a tree in the name of mother in his Mann Ki Baat programme. In the rainy season, children should be asked to plant trees in schools that have boundary walls. Children should take care of the trees. Trees of Neem, Gulmohar, Karanja etc. species should be planted.

Chief Minister Sai said that a training policy should be prepared to train teachers on rotation basis so that all teachers can receive training. The Chief Minister said that parents of children should also be connected to schools. For the first time this year, a state-wide mega-PTM is being organized in government schools of Chhattisgarh on 6 August.

Mentors will be appointed to prevent drop outs under RTE
In Chhattisgarh, to curb the drop out of students taking admission in non-grant aided private schools under RTE, district-wise officers will be appointed as mentors. In this regard, the School Education Secretary has written a letter to all the collectors. The officers appointed as mentors will ensure the admission of students selected under RTE. If the children face any problem, they will resolve it by meeting their parents, school management and administration and will encourage the children and their parents to continue their studies.

Vocational education: Skilling of children should be according to the requirement of industries
The Chief Minister directed to conduct vocational courses in schools with better quality. He said that children should be skilled through this course as per the requirement of the industries of the state, so that after passing 12th, they can easily get employment opportunities in the current and new industries. Children should also be given field training for this. It is worth noting that under the National Education Policy-2020, vocational courses will be started from class 6.

It was informed in the meeting that the student-teacher ratio in Chhattisgarh is better than the national level. At the national level, there is one teacher for 26 children, while the student-teacher ratio in Chhattisgarh is 21.84. Regarding Balwadi, it was informed that 9,438 Balwadis are operating in the state for children in the age group of 5 to 6 years. This year 1132 Balwadis are to be started. During the review of PM Yojana, it was informed that in the first phase, this scheme has been started in 211 schools in the state. Under this scheme, one school each is being selected from each development block and urban bodies and is being developed as a model school. In this scheme, a proposal has been sent to start this scheme in 198 schools. Schools will be developed as green schools with better infrastructure and facilities of kitchen-garden, AI robotics, ICT lab. It was told in the meeting that this time summer camps were organized in most of the schools, in which children and teachers participated enthusiastically.

Regarding Vidya Samiksha Kendra, it was told in the meeting that Vidya Samiksha Kendra has been set up for monitoring the beneficiary-oriented schemes run by the School Education Department. In a phased manner, online monitoring of attendance of students and teachers, evaluation of students, mid-day meal scheme, promotion-transfer of teachers, leave etc. will be monitored. An MoU has been signed with IIT Bhilai to prepare software for data analysis. Managing Director Samagra Shiksha Sanjeev Jha, Director Public Education Divya Umesh Mishra, Director SCERT Rajendra Katara, Director Textbook Corporation Kuldeep Sharma were also present in the meeting.
