India will become third largest global market in two years: Sony India MD

The Uncut

New Delhi. Japanese consumer electronics company Sony expects India to overtake its domestic market in the next two years and become the third largest market for the company globally. The company expects revenue in India to reach Rs 10,000 crore by this time.

Sony India Managing Director (MD) Sunil Nayyar said that the company has generated a revenue of Rs 6,353 crore in the country in 2022-23 and to accelerate growth, it is betting on the premium television segment in addition to its audio (listening devices) and imaging (display) products. According to him, Sony India is also betting big on the rapid growth of the gaming segment and imaging business.

“We have come a long way. If I go back 10 years, we (Indian business) were way behind globally but now, we are number four globally. That means in a few years, probably we can be number three and will be in the top three in future,” Nayyar told PTI. Currently, the US, China and Japan are the top three markets for Sony globally followed by India.
