Yannick Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka win Cincinnati Open titles

The Uncut

Mason: World number one men’s player Yannick Sinner and women’s number two Aryna Sabalenka won the titles by winning in straight sets in the final of the Cincinnati Open Tennis Tournament. Both these players became champions for the first time in Cincinnati Open.

Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-5 to win her first title since the Australian Open in January. Sinner, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Friday, defeated America’s Francis Tiafoe 7-6 (4) 6-2. He has become the youngest player to win the Cincinnati Open title since Andy Murray in 2008. Murray won the title here at the age of 21.

Both Sinner and Tiafoe reached the final of the Cincinnati Open for the first time. Earlier, their best performance here was reaching the third round. This tournament is considered important in preparation for the US Open starting in New York from August 26.
