Kolkata: The case of rape and murder of a doctor in RG Kar Medical College is taking a new turn every day. While there is a demand for quick punishment to the culprits related to the case, the CBI has not yet reached any conclusion.
On the other hand, BJP is attacking Mamata Banerjee’s government. A new claim is being made about Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. A letter regarding this is going viral on social media.
Actually, the renovation order near the seminar hall was given by former principal Sandeep Ghosh.

Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar made the allegation on Thursday and posted the viral letter on social media. As soon as this letter went viral, a new twist has come in the case and the uproar over the matter has intensified. The BJP leader also shared an alleged letter signed by Sandeep Ghosh, in which the renovation work was authorized.
“The order signed by former RG Kar Medical College director Sandip Ghose was issued on August 10, just a day after the victim’s death. Despite allegations from colleagues and protestors about tampering with the crime scene, the police commissioner denied it,” he wrote on X.
However, there has been no official confirmation yet regarding the viral letter nor does Lokmat Hindi confirm its authenticity.
The memorandum, written by Sandip Ghosh to the executive engineers of several departments of the Kolkata PWD, said the hospital authorities wanted to repair the attached toilets.
The letter posted by the BJP reads, “I would like to inform you that there are deficiencies in the rooms of on-duty doctors and separate attached toilets in various departments of RGKMC&H, Kolkata. You are requested to immediately take necessary action as per the demand of the resident doctors of RGKMC&H.
This issue has already been discussed and resolved in the meeting held today with the Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal and the Director of Medical Education, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal.”
Following the renovation revelations, opposition party BJP in Bengal alleged that attempts were being made to tamper with evidence at the crime scene.
It is known that after the murder, the role of Sandeep Ghosh came under scrutiny when the victim’s family revealed that the hospital authorities told them that the woman had committed suicide. The victim’s father said that he had to wait for more than three hours to see his daughter’s body. The Supreme Court had also questioned the Bengal government about the delay in filing an FIR under sections related to murder.
Sandip Ghosh was arrested earlier this week by the CBI on charges of alleged financial irregularities, including sale of dead bodies.
The doctor was raped and murdered while sleeping in a seminar hall during her 36-hour shift.
The police have arrested a civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy for the crime.
