Odisha: Three lakh tribal students will get financial assistance of five thousand rupees

Bhubaneswar. The Odisha government has announced to provide an annual financial assistance of five thousand rupees to about three lakh tribal students of the state for their studies. State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling made this announcement in the Assembly on Thursday. Mukesh Mahaling said that every tribal student who passes 8th/10th class and takes admission in 9th/11th class will be given Rs 5,000 per year as incentive.

This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday night under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The minister said that under this new scheme named ‘Madho Singh Hath Kharch Yojana’, every tribal student will get five thousand rupees. The minister told the assembly that this scheme will curb the tendency of dropping out of studies among tribal students in the state. Mahaling said that about three lakh students of Scheduled Tribe (ST) category will be benefited under Madho Singh Hath Kharch Yojana, for which the state government has allocated Rs 156 crore in this year’s budget. This scheme will be implemented from this year.
